2019 Internships

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from people interested in working in conservation and ecology for our internship program throughout 2019. This year, we have three different internship positions available:

 

Ecology Internship

 

The internship program will provide you with experience in a range of fundamental conservation activities including:

  • Wildlife monitoring (trapping, camera monitoring and spot-lighting)
  • Fieldwork organisation
  • Data collection, management and analysis
  • Assisting with tours and outreach programs

 

We are looking for people who:

  • Have an interest in conservation management and a passion for 
  • Australian native wildlife
  • Are happy to work under flexible conditions including night work
  • Are physically fit
  • Are fluent in English
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence
  • Are happy to commit on a casual basis throughout 2019

Science Communication Internship

 

 

This internship program will provide you with exciting science communication experience including:

  • Social media engagement
  • Writing for the public
  • Placed-based interpretation development
  • Assisting with and organising outreach activities, such as creative arts workshops.

 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent communication, writing and storytelling skills
  • Has an interest in conservation and a passion for Australian native wildlife
  • Is happy to work under flexible conditions
  • Is fluent in English
  • Loves working with people
  • Holds a valid driver’s licence
  • Is happy to commit on a casual basis throughout 2019
  • Is interested in becoming an environmental Science Communicator

Outreach Internship

 

This internship program will provide you with exciting outreach and education experience including:

  • Tours and outreach programs across Mulligans Flat and Jerrabomberra Wetlands
  • Tour development
  • Website maintenance 
  • Writing monthly newsletter
  • Volunteer management

 

Required skills:

  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Public speaking experience
  • Effective written communication skills

 

Desired skills:

  • Teaching or guiding experience
  • Experience using back end of websites/ intranets
  • Program/event/lesson design and planning experience
  • Experience working with children
