The ‘Friends of Mulligans Flat’ was established in late 2011. They are part of the ParkCare network that operate in partnership with ACT Parks and Conservation Service. ParkCare volunteer groups work in many nature reserves in Canberra Nature Parks and urban open spaces.
ParkCare activities vary depending on the reserve, the season, the availability of reserve staff to lend support and volunteer resources.
Activities can include:
- woody and annual weed removal
- seed collection from local native species
- propagation and planting
- removal of litter
- biodiversity monitoring
- erosion control and soil conservation works
At Mulligans Flat, there are also opportunities for ParkCare volunteers to get involved in community education and assist with research and species reintroduction programs.
The Friends of Mulligans Flat hold quarterly work parties supported by the Mulligans Ranger Team. Take a look at the photo gallery of their great work to date.
